Hotdogs, Hamburgs and Economic Stability

For the past few years, Cambridge Credit Counseling has participated in the Old Hill Block Party which celebrates improvements within the community.  This summer, the Partnership for the Renewal of Old Hill had much to be happy about.  The coalition helped to build and rehabilitate 22 homes and is working toward 10 more development sites.

The event is much more than hot dogs and hamburgs, it is an informational showcase for many worthwhile agencies poised to help the public.  Aside from Cambridge, representatives from Springfield Neighborhood Housing Services, Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity, HAP, Inc., and other community partners on hand to discuss their services with those in attendance.

I had the privilege of speaking with over a hundred residents who had credit concerns.  Some were worried about the economy’s impact on their credit profile, while others wanted to create a plan to deal with their indebtedness.  I was encouraged by the youth in attendance who sought advice as to the proper usage of credit so as to avoid high levels of debt throughout their college years.  Overall it was a fantastic event and wanted to share some photos. Enjoy the weekend.
